What are hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers?
Hyaluronic acid fillers are a type of temporary dermal filler, formulated as clear, reversible gels that are injected into hollow or sunken areas of the face with needles or micro-cannulas and are designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Unlike other anti-aging injections, HA—which is actually a sugar—naturally exists in the skin and is a key component in the skin's ability to retain water for a plump, hydrated complexion.
What areas can be treated?
HA fillers can dramatically improve the appearance of:
Thin, undefined lips
Lip Lines
Under-eye hollows
Cheek depressions
Nasolabial Folds (Deep smile lines that run from the side of the nose to corners of the mouth)
Marionette creases, and downturned lip corners
Sunken temples
Hands
How do you know which filler to use?
The formulation of each filler influences where it’s most often used. For example, Juvederm’s Voluma is meant for use in the cheeks and chin, Vollure and Ultra Plus are designed for smile lines, and Volbella is meant for lips. As each client is unique, our expert injectors will choose the best product for you.
What are the benefits of hyaluronic acid fillers?
HA Fillers are the most popular of all injectable fillers because they are reversible, can last 6-24 months, and they come in many different formulations to accommodate every area of the face. In our practice, these fillers are often injected with micro-cannulas (tiny, flexible tubes), which significantly reduces the chance of bruising, swelling, and discomfort.
